Those who have ordered the new BMW iX with the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, if we are to believe Bowers & Wilkins, get the most advanced sound quality in any car. They themselves say that they have created a facility that will give you the experience of being in the studio with the artist.
Real or True Sound, they call it, and Bowers & Wilkins has developed the system together with engineers at BMW, and obtained speaker elements from Bowers & Wilkins home speakers.
Two of the tweets are of the same type used in B & W’s 800 series flagships, with artificially made diamond membranes. Not only that, they have a Nautilus rear chamber, a spiral that dampens reflections and compression, for a distortion-free sound.
The treble is placed behind a steel grill, while the speakers in the doors are discreetly placed behind an acoustic front fabric.
In addition, the system has three tweeters with aluminum diaphragms, five midrange elements with membranes in aramid fibers, and eight other elements that are carefully placed in the headrests at the front and rear of the cabin.
The bass is delivered by four elements, which are connected to 4D graters, which are placed so that the bass is transported directly in the spinal cord.
You can choose which sound balance you prefer, from four presets, and of course fine-tune the sound to your liking, with more detailed settings in the car’s new operating system from the curved touch screen on the dashboard.
The price for the facility is relatively modest NOK 40,000,
