the blood donors association resumes service in Guîtres

On Thursday, October 10, a meeting was held in the association hall of Saint-Denis-de-Pile with a view to reconstituting an office of the Association of Volunteer Blood Donors of Guîtres and its region. This structure, which is one of the oldest in the canton, was chaired for many years by Francine Trébuchère, who had decided to retire. Dormant since the beginning of 2023, a first attempt at a meeting took place in Guîtres at the initiative of Marie Bonnin, without success for lack of participants. Blood collections were nevertheless able to continue during this holiday.

Getting the association back on track

This meeting was moderated by Pascal Bruand, president of the Departmental Union of Volunteer Blood Donors. “I informed all the municipalities of the former canton of Guîtres of the holding of this general assembly. I met the municipalities of Guîtres and Saint-Denis-de-Pile. We will try, with the help of the Departmental Union, to get this association back on track and to elect a new office. »

This work bore fruit, around ten people were present at this general assembly, including former volunteers, as well as Fabienne Fonteneau, mayor of Saint-Denis-de-Pile. Following the appointment of the new office (see elsewhere), the latter said it was satisfied that this association could continue. The other people present agreed to be or remain volunteer members, with the exception of Marie Bonnin, who wished to withdraw for personal reasons, after twenty-two years of volunteering.

For several years now, there have been no blood collections in the territory of the former canton of Guîtres, they are all centralized in Saint-Denis-de-Pile.

The next blood donation drive will take place at the Maison de l’Isle, 2, rue du Champ-de-Foire in Saint Denis-de-Pile on Tuesday, November 12 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. by appointment to be made on www.dondesang.efs.santé.fr

The new office

Were elected: Nicole Foltzer, president, Éliane Badaut, vice-president, Marilyn Valdes Cuesta, secretary and Bernadette Vergnes, treasurer.
