the institute of hemodonation and hemotherapy of the Canary Islands makes an appeal due to the lack of reserves of the blood banks of the islands: “We have just left Christmas and we are about to enter the carnival, they are two very complicated periods for our banks”. This is what Elsa Brito, head of the institute on the islands, tells us.
“Blood of all types is needed, but especially 0+ and A+”. In addition, it should be remembered that blood cannot be manufactured and has a very limited duration, which is why 300 bags of blood are needed daily to cover the needs in the archipelago.
Men can donate every three months, that is, four times a year. While women can do it every four months. Our colleague from Antena 3 in Tenerife wanted to share this gesture with everyone. A way to raise awareness about the importance of donating and to show that something simple and fast.
