The Blood Bank of Catalonia has warned this Thursday that the increase in Covid-19 infections in recent weeks has reduced donations about 15%, which is in addition to the already usual 30% reduction during holiday periods due to change in habits.
In addition, in a statement they state that the high activity in Catalan hospitals has increased the need for transfusions by 10% compared to the summer of 2019 and that 40,000 donors are needed in the months of July and August to be able to meet the needs of patients.
