Other disadvantages include exposed sensors and wiring, as well as a minimum of anti-corrosion coating. At the same time, the Changan engineers managed to design the car so that there were no parts protruding from below. The suspension elements are made of two-layer steel and the architecture is the same as that of the old Toyota Highlander: McPherson struts in front, three arms in the rear.
Bloggers noted that Changan didn’t reinvent the wheel and somehow copied Toyota’s solutions, and for added reliability, the Uni-K is equipped with a proven Aisin automatic transmission and BorgWarner clutch. Many Chinese automakers go this route because it’s easier and cheaper than designing an entire car from scratch.
