“All ten paintings by Ondřej Basjuk, Josef Bolf, Jan Kaláb, Krištof Kintera, Šárka Koudelová, Pasta Oner, Jan Pištěk, Miroslav Polách, Jakub Špaňhel and Lubomír Typlt were auctioned off with 100% success in London,” Terezie Kaslová said for the Kodl Gallery. Miroslav Polách’s The Descent of the Cross finished with a price of 9,450 pounds (281,000 crowns) and Lubomír Typlt’s Violet Tuesday work was auctioned for 8,820 pounds (262,280 crowns). The work of the painter Radka Bodzewicz, who got to Sotheby’s before her thirtieth birthday, entitled Mask: Entrance Gate, was auctioned for 5045 pounds (about 150,000 crowns). The painting belongs to the author’s cycle Divine Comedy. The combined technique on the screen also offers the audience the so-called augmented reality. An image measuring 2.1 by two meters can be viewed via a mobile phone or tablet with the Artivive application, in which the work comes to life in animation with music.

The auction included several works by the late Czech architect Jan Kaplický. The model of the Czech National Library was auctioned with the highest estimated price, but it was not sold. Kaplický’s photo collage sold for 6,300 pounds (about 187,000 crowns) and the work called Space Truss Mk 2 sold for 6048 pounds (about 180,000 crowns).

Sotheby’s sometimes includes works of the Czech avant-garde and modernity in its auctions. Last year, it offered a collection of Central European art, while a painting by Jan Kubíček from 1989 sold for 20,000 pounds (595,000 crowns). Pasta Oner then sold the painting Pipe and Phone for 16,250 pounds (484,000 crowns).
