The Blaze maintain perfect start with thrilling victory over Sunrisers

The Blaze displayed their international quality as they secured a thrilling low-scoring three-wicket win over Sunrisers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Led by leg-spinner Sarah Glenn’s incredible talent, The Blaze restricted Sunrisers to a modest total of 159, with Cordelia Griffith and Grace Scrivens being the only batswomen to provide some resistance. Glenn bamboozled Sunrisers with a superb 4 for 22 before mixing her skills with the bat to score 30 in a crucial 72-run partnership with Tammy Beaumont, who scored a match-winning 64 runs. The Blaze, who had to deal with a tricky pitch, were in trouble at 22 for 4 after Sunrisers’ Kate Coppack’s devilish new-ball spell. However, a gritty knock from Beaumont and a composed innings from Sophie Munro and Nadine de Klerk helped The Blaze chase the target with ease. Kirstie Gordon and Katherine Bryce also contributed with the ball, while Coppack and Abtaha Maqsood provided some resistance for Sunrisers.
