The Blacklist season 7: episode 17, the origins and secrets of Ressler, our verdict

It took more than seven seasons, but we were finally given an origin story about Donald Ressler. This episode 17 of season 7 of The Blacklist was centered on this character and it took an unexpected turn. What happened last night? Melty’s editorial team invites you to discover its verdict of “Brothers”. To learn that young Donny Ressler was a stoner and a drinker was a shock, as was the big secret he had kept for himself for 25 years. In a typical season, you wouldn’t emphasize Ressler as the penultimate episode (without offending him). As it stands, this has just interrupted the search for why Red collapsed and why Katarina kidnapped Imam Sadiq from Dembe during episode 16 of season 7 of The Blacklist … And it’s a shame! It was more difficult to appreciate this look at Ressler’s past when so much was left hanging. And, frankly, any episode without Red loses points from the start …

Linked destinies

The trip to Detroit clearly explained why Ressler had dodged his older brother’s calls for so long in this episode 17 of season 7 of The Blacklist. Robby was a real failure in life. It was an effective narrative that came and went between the present and 1995 when the Ressler family tragedy began. In 1995, Robby was about to follow his father, Bobby, to the police, while Donny was the dud who couldn’t do much … But Bobby’s partner Tommy changed this by several ways in killing their father. Then came the life-changing moment: Donny accidentally shot Tommy and then called Robby for help. After that night, Robby dropped out of the police academy, and Donny decided to line up. This explained Ressler’s burden a lot: not only did he carry the family’s police legacy, but he also felt like he had robbed Robby that way.

A beautiful end!
A beautiful end!

He felt it was his fault that Robby would not leave Detroit and stay there to take care of their mother. After digging up Tommy’s body, everything went on and the trouble started. Ressler did the right thing by addressing the authorities. At least it made sense to contact Liz. Thanks to her, there was no longer any body. What was surprising was Liz’s explanation that she had not made the body disappear for him but for herself in this episode of Tea Blacklist. In the crazy whirlwind that is her life, which promises to become even more crazy with Red aware of her duplicity, Ressler is the rock that she can keep in the middle of this madness. Liz isn’t always sympathetic, but she was very self-aware at the time. The platonic embrace at the end was also a nice touch. But the madness of Red and Katarina should soon return to his life … We wonder how it could end this season. Katarina could kill Red in The Blacklist ?
