The black carpet and solemn ceremony of the “Kilograms of Culture” award / Article

The jury of professionals in the field of public media culture nominated the award nominees in 10 categories – “Music”, “Visual art”, “Literature”, “Cinema”, “Theatre”, “Heritage”, “Surprise”, “Event”, “Start” and ” Pop culture”, while viewers and listeners chose them in three votes – spring, autumn and winter.

Prizes will be presented to the laureates by various well-known creators from other fields, such as a chef, athlete and midwife.

As an artist, culture worker, producer or project executor, an idea arises – together with the laureates, the presenters of the ceremony – actress Anta Aizupe and composer, LTV Culture News Manager Edgars Raginskis will try to find out. The author and performer of the musical accompaniment of the ceremony – composer, actor and director Toms Auniņš – will help them in this task. The musical part will be enriched by pianist Daumants Liepiņš, singer Katrīna Gupalo, musical association “Vintāža”, dancer Artūrs Nīgalis and the boys’ choir of Jāzepa Mediņš Riga 1st Music School.

“Kilograms kulturas” is a public media award in the field of culture, which confirms the active participation of public media in the cultural life processes of Latvia. The award is given by Latvian Television, Latvian Radio and Latvian public media portal LSM.lv. The tradition started in 2012, when the awards were presented for the brightest cultural events of 2011.
