The Bishop of León, Luis Ángel de las Heras Berzal, will celebrate a mass on Wednesday 4 January for the eternal rest of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who passed away last Saturday, 31 December, at the age of 95.

The Bishop of León, Luis Ángel de las Heras Berzal, will celebrate a mass on Wednesday 4 January for the eternal rest of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who passed away last Saturday, 31 December, at the age of 95.

Luis Ángel de las Heras Berzal summoned all the diocesans of León this Monday to participate in the celebration of Mass which he will celebrate at 20:00 in the church of the Holy Cathedral.

“Together, in communion with Pope Francis and with the whole Church, we will give thanks to God for the life, work and ministry of Benedict XVI and we will ask the merciful Father to grant him eternal rest,” explained prelate Leones in the statement addressed to the faithful.

“He who believes is never alone, he is neither in life nor in death”, continued Luis Ángel de las Heras Berzal, who precisely paraphrased Benedict XVI’s own words at the beginning of his Petrine ministry with another reference to a Another reflection on the “new hope” that springs up in the life of believers.
