Benjamin Castaldi has many anecdotes galore. It was thanks to his childhood memories that the play Bungalow 21 was born. Indeed, since September 14, 2023, Mathilde and Emmanuelle Seigner have been playing opposite each other in this piece imagined by Cyril Hanouna’s ex-columnist. In this show, Benjamin Castaldi looks back on the romance born in 1960 between Yves Montand, in a relationship with his grandmother Simone Signoret, and Marilyn Monroe, when the artists stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the filming of the film The Billionaire.
This play has been praised by critics since viewers had the chance to discover it at the Théâtre de la Madeleine. It is a huge success which obviously delights Benjamin Castaldi and allows him to remember his childhood memories. During his visit, the host remembered the day he accompanied Yves Montand on the set of the film Le Sauvage, a feature film by Jean-Paul Rappeneau. A project with a dream cast, including Luigi Vannucchi, Yves Montand of course, and Catherine Deneuve. Benjamin Castaldi remembers this period as if it were yesterday. “However, I was little, but I have absolutely incredible memories!”, he assured before revealing: “When I woke up in the morning, I understood that if I went to look for Christian Vadim around 8:30 a.m. in her room, I had every chance of walking past the shower where Catherine Deneuve was showering.”
Fortunately, Benjamin Castaldi and Catherine Deneuve never came face to face when the 79-year-old French actress came out of the shower. Thanks to Yves Montand, Cyril Hanouna’s ex-columnist was able to live many experiences which left him with lasting memories. In addition to the potential meeting with Catherine Deneuve naked, he also had the chance to cross the Atlantic without it really being planned. Indeed, Yves Montand one day offered him a behind-the-scenes tour of the Concorde, and he finally found himself in the United States by surprise.
