How did Rachel and Chandler meet in Friends ? What profession does Charlotte have in Sex And The City ? Or are Ally and Billy the same age in Ally McBeal ? A brief overview of the biggest inconsistencies in the cult series of the 90s.
The meeting between Rachel and Chandler in “Friends”
It is undoubtedly one of the biggest inconsistencies in the series Friends. In the very first episode, Rachel arrives at Central Perk in her wedding dress. She then runs into Monica, her former best friend from childhood, who introduces her to Phoebe, Joey and Chandler. Except that we discover, after the series, that Rachel and Chandler already knew each other.
In episode 8 of season 5 of Friends, who makes a throwback to the past, Rachel and Chandler are both present at the Gellers. That’s not all since, in episode 11 of season 10, Rachel and Chandler exchange a kiss at a college party.

The presence of the Cleaners in “Charmed”
In the sixth season of Charmed the Cleaners are introduced. Their mission is to prevent magic from being exposed to the face of the world in order to protect it. This creates an inconsistency at the level of the plot of the series and in particular compared to episode 22 of season 3. As a reminder, in this episode, the powers of the three sisters are accidentally revealed to the whole world.
Piper is then shot in her home, by an unbalanced young woman, and dies shortly after in the hospital. Time has turned back to avoid such a tragedy and, this time around, it is Piper and Prue who are seriously injured by the demon Shax. If we later learn that Leo only had time to save Piper, the absence of the Cleaners at this point in the plot does not make sense.
In fact, the death of Prue Halliwell was added to the storyline following the Departure of actress Shannen Doherty, who no longer got along with her co-star Alyssa Milano.

The age of Maxwell’s children in “A Nanny from Hell”
The cult and multi-broadcast series A nanny from hell does not escape some inconsistencies either, especially in terms of its chronology. A season being supposed to represent a year, we discover that the age of Maxwell Sheffield’s children is not always as it should be.
We start with the eldest, Maggie, who is 14 in the very first episode of the series, then turns 21 at the start of season 6, while she is 18 at the end of season 5. Comes then Brighton who, aged 10 in the pilot episode, is 12 in the remainder of the first season. Finally, little Gracie is 6 years old at the start of the series, but 10 years old during season 3.

Charlotte’s job in “Sex And The City”
While Sex And The City getting ready to do his big comeback, with his (almost) complete cast, the series is not free from inconsistencies. One of them concerns Charlotte York’s job which, according to the first episode, is to run an art gallery. Throughout the series, his activity remains the same.
And yet, in episode 8 of season 6 of Sex And The City, it is written that Charlotte is “A writer and journalist for Fashions Magazine » in the newspaper announcing her marriage to Harry. A profession that the character played by Kristin Davis has, it seems, never exercised.

The love story between Sébastien and Linda in “Hélène et les Garçons”
In the series Helen and the Boys, Sébastien says he’s been with Linda since they were 18. However, Linda holds another speech in The Miracle of Love, which is the direct result of Helen and the Boys, itself derived from First Kisses. Indeed, in episode 73, while the boys are reluctant to work with Bertrand Lelièvre, Linda tells a story that makes them change their minds.
She explains that when she was 17, she fell in love with a photographer and it was thanks to him that she became a model. So far so good. Except Linda then says she spent two years with him and left him for another boy when she was 19. And Sébastien in all of this?

Pacey’s date of birth in “Dawson”
If the series Dawson revolves, as its title suggests, around the character of Dawson Leery, his best friend Pacey Witter quickly told him stole the show. And, for good reason, the character played by Joshua Jackson enjoys an incredible popularity rating with fans. However, some details about him remain unclear, such as his date of birth.
In episode 2 of season 2 of Dawson, we learn that it is the 16the Pacey’s birthday and we therefore understand that he was born in the summer. But, in episode 12 of season 4, Joey throws a surprise birthday party for Pacey for his 18th birthday. Except that this time, we are in the middle of winter.

The Age of Ally and Billy in “Ally McBeal”
Ally McBeal, cult series to (re) discover on Amazon Prime Video, has also let out one or two inconsistencies … And not the least. Early on, and throughout the series, it is said that Ally met Billy when they were 8 years old.
However, when Billy dies in season 3, his gravestone indicates that he was born in 1968 and died in 2000. So that means he was 32 years old. Now, Ally is only 29 at the time and not celebrating her 30e birthday only later in the season.
