The Big Water Netflix series hit the world cast on video

For the first time, Netflix has decided to enter the number of houses in which the Polish series has been seen. “Great Water”, which tells the story of the flood of the century in Wroclaw, was ranked in Netflix’s top 10 in 78 countries, including Poland, Canada, Mexico, USA, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Morocco and Turkey. In the period from 3 to 9 October viewers spent a total of 45.840.000 hours watching the production.

The series is highly regarded by critics and the public. – It is amazing to hear from all over the world that “Big Water” is an engaging and moving series. Thanks to the popularity of the production, people from all corners of the world will learn about an important piece of Polish history. But the most important thing for me is that, regardless of the continent, viewers identify with our heroes. This is what we wanted to create a universal story about the strength of a community and a family in the face of a catastrophe – says Jan Holoubek, director of formatting.

– “Wielka Woda” is a unique production, the making of which required passion and commitment from both the film crew and Netflix partners. Behind the story is two years of preparation, in-depth research, consultations with experts and working with the best specialists in their fields. “Big Water”: two years of script writing

The cast of “Wielka Woda” includes: Agnieszka Żulewska, Tomasz Schuchardt, Ireneusz Czop, Anna Dymna, Jerzy Trela, Mirosław Kropielnicki, Blanka Kot and Tomasz Kot. Creating a compelling story about the power of the elements and realistically recreating the 90s atmosphere required extensive preparation for production. Work on the script lasted two years.

During filming, the filmmakers had extensive technical facilities: authentic props, gadgets and cars from that period. During the filming of the series, decorations were built in the water, the experience of several dozen stuntmen and the latest technologies in the field of special effects were used. Over 300 people were involved in the production of the series. The authenticity is also added by the fact that the real behavior of the inhabitants has been recreated, for example the fact that during the floods life in Wroclaw moved to the roofs of houses and council houses.

For over two years, Netflix has been by far the most popular VoD platform in Poland.
