The Big Journey of the Little Package. How the white powder got into the White House – 2024-08-22 16:44:52

/ world today news/ Few people smile on a holiday weekend if they are at work. And when there is another trouble on the job, the level of positivity in the blood tends to “zero” – such an idea could have crossed the head of the White House employee who discovered a package of unknown origin on Sunday evening, July 2.

Soon a whole delegation from the emergency services arrived to examine the find – as is usual in such cases – with firefighters, police, chemical protection specialists and other such specialists.

Very soon it turned out that the package contained “white powder of unknown origin’ and every person who grew up with American Hollywood cinema immediately catches a certain associative series and thinks of only one variant of the origin of the dust. One may resent the use of banal stereotypes, but in this case, alas, they were confirmed.

Rapid tests by the D.C. Fire Department revealed that the powder contained cocaine hydrochloride.

President Joe Biden and the first lady at that moment – according to all the canons of the detective genre – were not at home.

The couple left for Camp David to attend a family reunion and return to Washington for the national celebration of Independence Day on July 4.

According to the official version, they were also entertained by Hunter Biden, the president’s son and part-time one of the most famous “cocaine addicts” of the American tabloids and criminal justice. It is true that the latter was not able to extend its fragile hands to Biden Jr. until recently.

And it turned out that shortly before the opening of the package, Hunter Biden was seen in the corridors of the White House.

There are no reliable facts about his conditions and moods at this time, but the process was set in motion. A few hours later, all the even slightly conservative publications immediately remembered all the drug trips of Joe Biden’s son and opaquely hinted to the public that it was he who brought the cocaine into the White House.

But before the white powder reached the White House, it had to make a long journey full of vicissitudes.

It all starts in the Andes

After cocaine was found in an organization of such a level, and also that the son of the American president is supposed to have expanded his “mental limits” with it himself, it is natural to assume that this cocaine was of the highest quality .

Without any impurities in the form of dry milk, flour or – even in products from the household department of the neighborhood supermarket. This “luxury” cocaine is diluted by retail dealers before being sold to customers whose possible outrage is expected to have no real consequences.

True – pure – cocaine can originally only be found in the Andes: Bolivia, Peru or Colombia.

It is there that the poor local peasants grow coca, and very actively: in 2023 alone, the number of plantations in Peru has increased by 18%, and apparently it will not stop there.

Many factors force peasants to grow coca: unemployment, hunger, good wages, and in some cases a kidnapped child or the muzzle of a machine gun. True, in most cases this process is still voluntary – it is much easier to get along with drug traffickers than with government officials (in case the latter do not unite with the former).

Once harvested, the coca leaves are processed in jungle laboratories to form batches of cocaine that are collected by cartels or individual customers who value quality and prefer to work “direct”.

It is true that most of the “goods” are still sent to the US and Canada via Mexico.

The transit

The fate of these batches is more difficult, but at the same time exciting. Some batches will have the opportunity to be packed in the mountains of Sinaloa, others will be used to produce methamphetamine in Michoacán or Jalisco, and some of the goods will be loaded onto ships and sent on an exciting journey to Australia, New Zealand and other Asian countries.

But to get to the US, the shipments must be transported across the world’s busiest (and most crossed) border – the US-Mexico border, where in 2022 alone, over two million people were detained trying to enter the US .

There is a lot to see here: crowds of tired and sweaty migrants from Latin America, India, China and other countries strive to cross the turbulent waters of the Rio Grande, stay alive and not be caught. Some desperate people try to cross the Arizona desert (where the local population is forbidden by law to share water and food with illegal immigrants), others swim to Florida, and someone asks for help from the drug cartels, agreeing to carry several shipments with goods in exchange.

It is therefore not surprising that the volume of drug trafficking is growing in parallel with illegal migration. True, a large part of the goods is quietly transported by car or carried right in front of the border guards without further inspection.

They import many things: girls and boys for sale, guns, cocaine, fentanyl, which is cheaper but much more dangerous to use, and many other types of drugs.

From hand to hand and elsewhere

The most difficult – the transportation across the border – is backwards, and the cocaine is sent to the so-called distribution points, from where it reaches the dealers.

Among them are street dealers selling drugs to high schoolers or night club goers. There are also more first-hand dealers who distribute narcotic substances in schools or colleges.

But there are also those who buy goods for “respectable people” and work on individual orders.

In the latter cases, it is quite common to deliver drugs to a specified address under the guise of, for example, pizza delivery or something more satisfying, such as a call girl.

It can be even more interesting when a few packets of white powder land on an employee’s desk right after another successful contraband bust.

Well, then cocaine ends up in the most interesting places: on the backs of toilet bowls in high-end nightclubs, on dollar bills, in strippers’ butts, or in the worst case – in the White House.

The West Wing of the White House

The long journey of a package of cocaine – from plantations in the Andes to the secret pocket of the carrier – ended in the West Wing of the White House.

The place, I mean, was chosen extremely conveniently for subsequent media publicity and the fabrication of the most fantastic accusations.

The West Wing is the administrative division of the White House and is where American officials, foreign delegations, journalists and visitors of various types can find themselves.

It is here that the Oval Office (made famous by the Monica Lewinsky scandal), the executive offices, the Roosevelt Room and the press conference room are located.

Purely theoretically, anyone could be accused of transporting cocaine: press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre, the first lady, Russian spies.

Or, for example, in the first days of July, the new ambassador of Peru, where in recent years coca plantations have become more and more extensive, came to the White House to present his credentials. A pretty decent candidate, though not as charismatic as Hunter Biden.

And what was needed was not an international scandal, but something within the framework of the national scale.

Republic holiday

The main stakeholders in the new scandal with Joe Biden are most likely Republicans and conservatives of different persuasions. It was they and the media controlled by them immediately began to actively promote the version of the participation of Hunter Biden in the appearance of cocaine in the White House (although God knows that he was clearly not the first time in the walls of the presidential residence).

Naturally, even former President Donald Trump commented on the scandal: according to him, the cocaine from the White House could belong to only two people: either Biden himself or his son.

Trump also inadvertently kicked the pro-democracy media by saying they would soon call the found dust “not a drug, but aspirin” and then they will completely stop publishing any facts about this story.

And yet history has already allowed the Republicans to do two things – once again kick the Biden family and the current Democratic administration (this is never superfluous on the eve of a new presidential election), as well as put the word “cocaine” back in the headlines and to pay attention to the border zone through which he actively enters the United States.

Of course, not at all to stop the supply of drugs for good. But to start talking again about the need to allocate budget funds for the construction of the border wall, the introduction of new tariffs for cargo carriers from Central America or new military contracts to strengthen the southern borders – this is welcome.
