A shed behind a house in Zundert caught fire on Monday evening, with flames leaping from the roof. The fire brigade gave the signal to shoot at half past nine. No one was injured in the blaze, a fire department spokesman said.
The residents of the neighboring house on Rucphensweg themselves alerted the fire brigade. The firefighters ensured that the fire did not spread to the house, which is about ten meters from the barn.
The roof of the barn was destroyed in the fire. Firefighters with several units intervened on the spot. Among other things, a large water transport of the Zundert fire brigade was deployed because there is not much water available in the suburban area. A cherry picker also arrived at the scene, so that the fire could be put out from above.
A lot of smoke came out due to the fire, the road was temporarily closed for extinguishing work. Firefighters predict that it will take several hours to put out the fire.
It is not yet clear how the fire started. According to a 112 correspondent, cars were stored in the shed.
