Young Sheldon, a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory, will continue for at least three more seasons. Broadcaster CBS has confirmed a fifth, sixth and seventh series of the program on Tuesday.
In Young Sheldon plays Iain Armitage, also known from Big Little Lies, the young version of Sheldon Cooper, the character in The Big Bang Theory was portrayed by Jim Parsons.
The series is set in 1980s Texas, with child prodigy Sheldon attending high school as a nine-year-old. Parsons is the show’s voice over, who looks back on his childhood.
In the Netherlands, the series can be seen on Comedy Central. The fourth season is currently being broadcast there and in the United States. In this season, Sheldon – now eleven years old – gets his high school diploma and prepares for the next step: college.
Actress Zoe Perry plays in Young Sheldon Sheldon’s mother, Mary. The real mother of the actress, Roseanneplayer Laurie Metcalf, was in The Big Bang Theory can be seen in the role of Mary Cooper.
