But compared to that, health experts say that severe sore throat, runny nose, body ache, high fever etc. They are seen most in the BF-7 variant. Health experts warn that those who have been ill before, the elderly, those with heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, etc. should be more careful.
The BF-7 variant, currently reported in Gujarat and Odisha in India, has previously been reported in countries like America, UK, Belgium, Germany, France and Denmark. The BF-7 variant began rolling out to the United States in October. In the UK, around seven per cent of Covid cases have been caused by this strain.
According to the conclusion of health experts, about 500 omicron variants have been reported in different countries. Worryingly, the strain has the ability to spread from one person to 10-18 people and can infect more people from asymptomatic patients.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has suggested strengthening the country’s defense against Covid. It is also recommended to wear a mask in public places. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya called the meeting due to the spread of Covid in countries including China. The minister said that covid was not completely over yet and it was suggested that they be vigilant and step up surveillance. The minister has made it known that he is ready to face any situation.
In addition to China, the Union Health Ministry also said that in the context of the increase in Covid cases in countries such as Japan, America and Brazil, Covid prevention should be strengthened in the country. It is also recommended to continue wearing masks in public places. Important decisions were taken in the meeting convened by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya given the covid situation in the country.
The minister said that the covid is not over yet and it was suggested to be vigilant and strengthen monitoring. The minister has made it known that he is ready to face any situation. NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul clarified after the meeting that masks should be continued in crowded places (inside and outside). He said this is important for people with illnesses and the elderly.
He said booster shots shouldn’t be delayed and seniors shouldn’t compromise about it. So far, only 27 to 28 percent have received the precautionary dose, she said. States and union territories have been ordered to send samples of Covid-positive cases to INSACOG laboratories to facilitate the identification of new variants.
