The Beste Bat circuit! attenuates the January slope with a wide musical offer

If it were not for the rickety capacity and the ritual of the masks, the distance and the hydroalcoholic gel, it would seem that the situation of the concerts will be relatively normal in the first days of the year. However, the truth is that it is nothing more than a mirage caused by the live arts circuit Beste Bat !, an initiative subsidized by the Basque Government to give a break to artists, theaters and cultural workers who have had their worst year in a long time. Welcome, then, to this mirage that will make it possible to attenuate the January slope with a wide musical offer in the three historical territories.

With regard to Gipuzkoa and only during the first week of the month, the activity of the circuit reaches almost twenty performances. The first one will be eThis Saturday in Azpeitia and will have as protagonists the Biscayan Belako: In March they were forced to suspend their US tour due to the pandemic, but they have not stopped playing since in summer they premiered with a mini-tour in drive-ins to present ‘Plastic Drama’ (2020), their powerful fourth album.

On the 4th, Tolosa will vibrate with the Negroid gospel of Ispirit, a combo formed by Ainhoa Eguiguren, Lidia Insausti and Lide Hernando along with the pianist Iñaki Miguel, while Arrasate will surrender to the charms of Sara Zozaya, who also has a good rhythm of performances in the new normality. That same day, Suakai, a project by the violinist Claudia Osés and the cellist Iván Carmona, will surprise at Beasain.

On Tuesday, Three Kings’ Eve, the Doka will receive the onslaught of street-punk from Social Arcade, while Errenteria is already preparing to enjoy Silks, the supergroup of Pello Reparaz (ex Vendetta), who has recently been awarded at the Gaztea Awards for making the best song / video made during confinement (‘Zeinen Ederra Izango Den’), and has also been recognized for having the best live and be the best band.

The next day, will be Girl Coyote eta Boy Tornado those who raise the temperature and distribute their particular rock roscón at the Victoria Eugenia in Donostia. The impetuous local duo will take the opportunity to present an exciting single that includes two classics. On side A is ‘Superstition’, a version of Stevie Wonder’s famous anthem that includes wind instruments and was originally recorded for the album ‘Hardcore Hits Cancer’, the proceeds of which went to the Casa dels Xuklis, a shelter for Kids with cancer. This song has now been reissued together with the one that illustrates the B-side, ‘White Room’, by Cream, the mythical band in which the bluesman Eric Clapton was a member. This small format work comes after the success of ‘Aitzstar’ (2019), his third album, winner of the 2020 MIN Awards for best album in Basque and the Musika Bulegoa Sariak.

Until the end of February

Other pending actions for the next few days are those of Joseba Tapia, Verde Prato, Nude, Bulego, Alos Quartet or the approach of the music of Laboa to jazz by Iñaki Salvador and his collaborators. Some of the functions are already sold out, so it is recommended to check the agenda on the beste-bat.eus website. On this page you can consult the offer of the circuit, which will last until the end of February with many more appointments.
