Did not miss the World Cup.
Andres Iniesta, former Barcelona star and Japanese Vissel Kobe player, confirmed that Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain player and his former Barça colleague, didn’t need to win the World Cup with Argentina to confirm he was the best player who touched the ball.
Iniesta said in statements to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “For me it was not necessary for Messi to win the World Cup to consider him the best, with or without the World Cup, he is the best.”
He added: “I think the person who didn’t believe it before Messi won the World Cup will still find some excuse to stick to his idea.”
And he continued: “But in any case, I think Messi fully deserved the title, not just for him, but for all of Argentina.”
And concluded: “How did he compete with himself? He started losing in the first game and took this extra pressure on what he already had. To me he is the hero he deserves.”
