How to eat persimmons correctly – with or without peel
Some fans of this fruit argue that you need to remove the peel from the persimmon before eating, others – wash the fruit well enough.
In general, most varieties of persimmon, like other fruits, are best eaten with the peel, because it is in the peel that the most vitamins and beneficial elements are usually concentrated. But this does not apply to unripe persimmon fruits.
The astringent taste of persimmon is provided by tannin, which is abundant in unripe fruits. Tannin is a catechin that has tanning properties and is well known to us from green and black tea.
Tannin itself is safe, but it should not be consumed in large quantities, so it is better to eat tart, unripe persimmons without peel.
When and how best to eat persimmon
To maximize the benefits of persimmon, consume the fruit no earlier than an hour after eating and no later than half an hour.
Persimmon is a fairly self-sufficient fruit, but it can be combined with yogurt, cream and cheese. Grains will not go with it.
