The best “Transformers” film of all time starts in cinemas in 2 days: German trailer for the sci-fi spectacle “Transformers One” – Kino News

After seven live-action films about the versatile robo-aliens, “Transformers One” now brings the much-needed oil change to the rusty sci-fi franchise – and how! The trailer gets you in the mood for the German cinema release:

The first reactions called “Transformers One” the best “Transformers” film of all time. And we can actually only agree with this full-bodied judgment. FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen gave it a strong 4 out of 5 stars in his review. He doesn’t just praise that fast-paced, creative spectacle fireworks in the action scenesbut also the amazingly humorous and unexpectedly emotional origin storywhich even viewers who have never had anything to do with the alien shapeshifters can enjoy.

In our opinion, the first animated “Transformers” movie since “Transformers: The Movie” aka “Transformers – The Battle for Cybertron” (1986) is, from a creative point of view, exactly the right path to follow the toy franchise after the seven between 2007 and to breathe new screen life into live-action films made in 2023. However, “Transformers One,” which opened in many other countries in September 2024, has so far fallen short of expectations at the box office.

The prequel, directed by “Toy Story 4” director Josh Cooley, is currently grossing around $97 million worldwide (in terms of budget, the information currently varies between $75 and $147 million). In some markets, however, the cinema release is still imminent, so there may still be a small push, including now in this country: ““Transformers One” opens in German cinemas on October 10, 2024.

Friends become enemies: This is the story of “Transformers One”

The “Transformers” prequel has no humans at all and is instead set on Cybertron, the home planet of the titular robots. Here we get an insight into their history and, above all, see how the once close friends Orion Pax (voice in the original: Chris Hemsworth / German version: Tommy Morgenstern) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry / Jan-David Rönfeldt) finally became become the bitter enemies Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The film thus sheds light on the origin of the eternal conflict between the good Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which will not only have a decisive impact on Cybertron, but ultimately also on Earth…

The prominent voice cast of “Transformers One” includes Keegan-Michael Key or, in German, Phil Laude as Bumblebee, Laurence Fishburne / Tom Vogt as Alpha Trion, Jon Hamm / Tom Beck as Sentinel Prime, Steve Buscemi / Santiago Ziesmer as Starcream and Scarlett Johansson / Emilia Schüle as Elita.
