Gamescom 2024 is here. Geoff Keighley, who was in charge of the last Summer Game Fest in the United States, is once again leading Europe’s largest video game event. Viewers are attending this Tuesday a Opening Night Live packed with trailers and industry news. An exciting preview of a new season of entertainment. Below are the highlights.
‘Borderlands 4’
The event has kicked off with some very interesting news. ‘Borderlands 4’ is official. While the franchise’s movie hasn’t been very successful, Gearbox has just confirmed a new installment of the game with a mysterious teaser which invites us to escape from hordes of enemies whose mission is to plunder the planet once again. ‘Borderlands 4’ will arrive in 2025 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
‘Goat Simulator Remastered’
We can see a lot of things in the world of video games, including a goat simulator. Coffee Stain Studios has published the trailer for ‘Goat Simulator Remastered’. It is a version of the game that will take a graphical leap and will include all previous DLC and the GoatVille High map that we could only play on mobile. It will arrive later this year and will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
‘Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis: The Answer’
We knew that Persona 3 Reload’s next DLC would be coming to PS5 and PS4 on September 10, but now we’ve seen a small trailer for the game that has us facing an onslaught of threats, meeting a new companion, and discovering the surprises that will be presented to us throughout the story.
‘Dying Light: The Beast World’
At this Opening Night Live we also got to see the premiere trailer for ‘Dying Light: The Beast World’. Techland’s latest game is presented as an open-world game whose main story promises 10 hours of entertainment, although, of course, this will depend on our way of playing. It all begins with Kyle Crane thirsting for revenge after being held captive.
‘No More Room in Hell 2’
Zombie games don’t have an expiration date. There’s always someone trying to offer us a new adventure for the rotting undead, which are usually numerous and violent. ‘No More Room in Hell 2’ promises to bring us this and something else “soon” in 8-player co-op mode. We’ll have to wait to find out its release date and other details.
‘Path of Exile 2’
The ‘Path of Exile 2’ trailer takes us to a world where we will have to fight against abominations and divine creations. To achieve victory in this world we will have to bring together skills that we can use together or separately. November 15, 2024 is the early access date for this RPG game developed by Grinding Gear Games that will land on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
‘Dune: Awakening’
We’ve been talking about ‘Dune: Awakening’ since Gamescom 2022. Little by little we’ve seen more images of this promising open-world MMO inspired by the work of Frank Herbert. Now, along with the gameplay we see above, we finally know the release window. The title developed by Funcom will be released “in early 2025” on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
‘Starfield: Shattered Space’
‘Shattered Space’, the long-awaited expansion of ‘Starfield’, finally has a release date. Officially presented at the beginning of the summer, we now know that it will arrive on September 30, and it will do so on both PC and Xbox Series X | S. In the trailer we don’t see a variety of things, but rather the performance of the REV-8 vehicle. Pay attention, because everything seems to indicate that we will see more news from Microsoft today.
‘Secret Level’
And we’re not talking about video games here, but rather a series about video games. ‘Secret Level’ comes with stories set in the world of this interesting industry, such as Pac-Man, Dungeons & Dragons, Crossfire, Exodus, Spelunky, Warhammer 40,000. It’s 15 episodes that we can watch starting December 10 on Amazon, and we can warm up our engines with the trailer above.
‘Towerborne’
This Xbox Games Studios title introduces us to a ruined world filled with menacing monsters. Our character, born in the spirit realm, has the skills and courage to face evil and protect his own. ‘Towerborne’ will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S. Early access begins on September 10 and is a valuable resource for developers before launch.
‘Squid Game: Unleashed’
‘The Squid Game’, the hit Netflix series, now has an online multiplayer mobile game. Just like in the streaming production, we will have to use our skills to survive and, most importantly, defeat our enemies. The game will be available on the Netflix app on iPhone and Android devices.
‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’
The next action-adventure game developed by MachineGames is ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’. We will put ourselves in the shoes of an Indiana Jones who is estranged from his fiancée after a robbery at Marshall College, and we will have to advance by defeating enemies and solving puzzles. The title will be released on December 9 on PC Xbox Series X | S. Fun fact: it will land on PS5 in spring 2025.
That’s it for the Opening Night Live article. However, we still have a week ahead of us with more announcements from the world of video games. Gamescom 2024 will be the epicentre of the Future Games Show and Xbox FanFest, and at Xataka you’ll find all the news.
