Lionel Messi like a warning Paris Saint Germain. Messi says the best team doesn’t always win Champions League.
PSG is the top favorite to win the 2021/2022 Champions League. Les Parisiens have the best squad after a mega-investment last summer after bringing in a line of stars such as Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Messi.
The PSG squad is even more glamorous because it first contains Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Marco Verratti. Plus PSG is more experienced because they have never failed to reach the semifinals in the last two seasons, even reaching their first final two years ago.
However, PSG’s progress was not too smooth after only finishing second in the group phase behind Manchester City. Although, PSG performed well after beating Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of the round of 16.
Lionel Messi already collected four championship medals Champions League throughout his career, which he earned with Barcelona. Messi revealed the uniqueness of the competition even though he was optimistic that PSG could win it.
“It’s not easy to win the Champions League because it’s a competition where the best teams are and where very small details, very small mistakes, can knock you out,” he told PSG magazine. AS.
“I think we have a team that can try and win it. We are excited about the idea and we are confident that we will be able to compete but we have to think about it step by step. Again, it is difficult to win the Champions League. The best teams don’t always win.”
“The best teams have to be good in every area of the pitch, in defense and attack. Attackers can’t just attack and defenders have to do more than just defend. You have to build a team that is strong and solid in defense and attack.”
“That is the basis that will shape us into a fully competitive team, a team that will try and win Champions Leagueand every other tournament we participate in with a chance of winning,” straightforward Messi.
