Ermedin Demirovic has impressed across the board in his first games for VfB Stuttgart. The 26-year-old is one of the best Bundesliga transfers of the summer and can bring joy to the Swabians for a long time to come, says SPORT1 columnist Tobias Holtkamp.
In Dortmund, Serhou Guirassy, 28, was included in the circle of the big “nine”. Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski wore the black and yellow jersey with the special back number before him, as did Jan Koller, also a club legend. They all scored and scored and scored.

Without a doubt: That is also the plan for Guirassy and especially for him! He should now continue at BVB exactly where he left off in May, still wearing the VfB Stuttgart jersey. He had scored 28 goals at the end of the season!
Dortmund used the release clause in Guirassy’s contract and bought him from Stuttgart for almost 18 million euros. In addition, the Guinean received around seven million euros from BVB as “signing money”, i.e. for his signature.
The transfer took so long in the end, because the mandatory examination immediately before the transfer revealed an lateral ligament injury in the right knee, but it was of course a hard hit for VfB, who could have demanded a lot more money for Guirassy without an exit clause, but also suddenly had to plan without their top scorer. Guirassy had shot Stuttgart into the Champions League – and then he was gone.

Stuttgart: Demirovic as an ideal addition
What they did at VfB and how well it is working now speaks once again for their outstanding ability to assess scouting and new signings. Stuttgart made the best striker transfer in the Bundesliga, i.e. this summer.
After just three Bundesliga games, Ermedin Demirovic, 26, has almost made us forget his predecessor Guirassy. The Hamburg native, who was trained in the performance centers of HSV and RB Leipzig, seems in every respect to be the ideal complement to Stuttgart’s second top striker Deniz Undav.
His statistics already include three goals in the league and one goal in the DFB Cup, but in fact it is a lot more that makes Demirovic a super purchase.
His development is far from over
His playing skills, his eye for his teammates, his physical qualities, all of these are top-notch in the Bundesliga. And his goal-scoring instinct is no exception. And the development, which many see as the biggest plus at VfB, is far from over.

Sure, Stuttgart’s investment in Demirovic is big. 21 million euros in transfer fees to FC Augsburg alone. But the timing, after qualifying for the Champions League, seemed just right. For the club, but also for Demirovic himself. Stuttgart have strengthened their team once again, despite some prominent departures.
In contrast to Guirassy, for whom a possible transfer was a constant topic over the last two years, Demirovic is now not only completely happy in Stuttgart, but is also tied down for four years. Apparently even without an exit clause, if we can believe those involved. There was none in Augsburg either.
Stuttgart’s trump card in the Champions League?
It doesn’t take much imagination to imagine that Demirovic will also perform well and score goals in the Champions League. His market value has almost quintupled in the past two years, from six million at SC Freiburg to currently 28 million euros (source: transfermarkt.de). And the trend is rising.
He is not the type of person for whom this is enough, or who could be satisfied in any way, and this is a character trait that they have apparently placed particular value on in Stuttgart.
It is safe to say that the Stuttgarters and Demirovic will have a lot of fun together. And VfB must be congratulated on this special prospect alone after a complicated summer of transfers.
