If you want to be found as a lawyer, you have to present yourself. If you do not want or cannot use your own website for this purpose, external options are also available.
Successful Internet presence: Which platform is right for you?
Appearances on the Internet are a good way to make a name for yourself. For example, but not only, your own homepage is suitable for this. But the virtual world is big and the platforms are diverse. At the same time, time outside of the mandate work is short. So where’s the best place to go if you’re looking for the largest possible platform for everyone: do you focus on Facebook? Do you go on X – formerly Twitter – or do you prefer Instagram? Or do you ignore all of that and look good on Xing or LinkedIn?
From LinkedIn to Instagram: The perfect platform for your law firm
Pure business platforms such as LinkedIn and Xing are more interesting for slightly larger units. For smaller law firms, however, the Facebook network operated by Meta can be the “place to be”. Profiles and videos can be uploaded here free of charge – both from individuals and from law firms.
A real child of the smartphone age is Instagram, or Insta for short. With its filters, images and videos can be filtered before posting, for example. B. make it pretty. But be careful: What is an exciting feature for private posts and photos can quickly appear unprofessional in a professional context. Here it is important to remember the well-known concept of the receiver horizon. There are many younger people on Facebook and Instagram whose demands for a digital presence should not disappoint you in terms of content or technology.
X or formerly “Twitter” is also a communication platform, but should not be lumped together with Instagram. Even though there are still a lot of people there, there are signs that X is past its prime. Even before Elon Musk took over, the network was struggling with disinformation and “alternative facts.” There are also complaints about excessive moderation of problematic content.
A Warning: Social Media Challenge:
Finally, a serious warning: you can’t dance at all weddings at the same time. Check carefully which platform is most likely to reach your main target group and how much time you need to create the content and use the networks. If you manage to regularly create interesting posts and achieve initial success on one platform, you can always think about other channels.
Or what do you mean? As always, we look forward to your feedback!
