It is a fully electric car, Tesla Model 3the best-selling one in Europe during the month of March 2022. On the one hand, a surprising result, on the other also justifiable both for the demand for electric cars by consumers and, or rather we should say above all, for the production and distribution of vehicles implemented by Tesla.
In the second and third place of this ranking we find Peugeot 208 e Tesla Model Y, another car of the American company equipped with a fully electric engine. It is significant how the two fully electric Tesla cars managed to do better than one of the most requested cars by European consumers: Volkswagen Golfit has in fact gained the fourth position.
Tesla Model 3
Tesla’s exploit with Model 3 and Model Y has an explanation that goes beyond the interest of European consumers in these cars. In fact, the American company usually obtains important sales results in the month that closes each quarter of the year, just like that of March for the first quarter. The production of Tesla cars destined for the European market is in fact made in factories of Freemont in the United States and Shanghai in China, which at the beginning of the quarter give priority to production for domestic markets, moving that for European countries to the second half of the quarter. From this an accumulation of deliveries at the end of the quarter, with the third month always recording very high sales figures.
Could this scenario change in the coming months? In part yes, thanks to contribution made by the new Gigafactory in Berlinin which Tesla is currently producing the Model Y cars intended for European customers. Production is currently lower, in terms of volumes, than that of the other Tesla factories that have been running for several years but we can expect from this new Gigafactory an important contribution in terms of cars delivered that will no longer be moved so much only towards the end of the quarter.

Tesla gains the top two positions, distancing the other cars in a marked way. Fiat is confirmed in third place with an electric 500, a car that continues to enjoy good market success not only in Italy but also in Europe. The remaining electric cars that make up the top 10 remain at a distance, all however with interesting volumes. The electric car market is indeed undergoing a strong push in Europe: despite this car sales contracted by 19% compared to March 2021fully electric vehicles continue to increase in numbers and do better in terms of growth than plug-in hybrids.
