Jakarta –
The best-selling car in Indonesia at the beginning of 2022 was quite surprising. Not from the passenger car segment, the best-selling car in January 2022 was a car from the commercial segment.
January 2022 was a sweet start for the Suzuki Carry. Suzuki’s flagship pickup car recorded the most car sales in early 2022. In January 2022, Suzuki released 5,372 Carry units.
This figure became the largest car sales in Indonesia in the first month of 2022. Suzuki Carry even beat sales of the Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda Brio which are usually the best-selling cars.
Toyota Avanza, because now its brand is distinguished from Veloz, was evicted from the top 10 best-selling cars. Meanwhile Veloz fills the top five positions.
Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Xpander, which is the closest rival to the Avanza, is the second best-selling car in Indonesia under the Suzuki Carry. In January 2022, Mitsubishi released 5,282 Xpander units. That figure includes Xpander Cross sales as well.
In third place is the Daihatsu Sigra. Daihatsu’s 7-seater LCGC recorded sales of 5,282 units.
Next in fourth place is the Toyota Veloz. The MPV, which is now its own brand outside the Avanza, recorded sales of 4,777 units.
Closing the top five is the Honda Brio. Sales of the Honda Brio including the LCGC Brio Satya in January 2022 were 4,489 units.
Then the Toyota Kijang Innova became the sixth best-selling car in Indonesia. Innova recorded sales of 3,971 units. Then in seventh place is the Mitsubishi L300 with 3,877 units.
In eighth, ninth and 10th place, Toyota Rush was filled with 3,752 units, Daihatsu Xenia 3,512 units and Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up 3,362 units.
For the record, the car sales figures in this list of best-selling cars are wholesale sales or from factories to dealers. This data was officially released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).
