University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”, Personal Development Support Center – Burgas Municipality and TechnoLogica company held a Robo challenge Burgas competition for students from grades 8-12.
Support was also provided by Musala Soft.
The official opening was attended by Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, MD, Rector of the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”, Prof. Dr. Irena Markovska, Deputy. rector for quality of education, accreditation and personnel, Prof. Sotir Sotirov, head of the intelligent systems laboratory and Mihail Nenov, deputy mayor for “Education, health care, social activities and youth policies” in the Municipality of Burgas.
“I wish you success and I expect you to give your best, because the best representatives will be accepted in our specialties “Computer Systems and Technologies” and “Software Engineering”, were the words of Prof. Dr. Bozov at the opening of the competition.
“I’m really happy to see so many young people who are passionate about science and engineering. This competition has the potential to go national. In it, the big prize is not just a cup. The big prize is the opportunity to continue your education at this university, which invests in the latest technologies,” said Mihail Nenov.
Prof. Sotir Sotirov candidly shared that the merits for the preparation and organization of the competition largely belong to the students.
He expressed his satisfaction that young people are actively involved in activities related to programming robots.
About 20 participants from Professional High School for Computer Programming and Innovation (PGKPI), Professional High School for Electrotechnics and Electronics (PGPE) “Konstantin Fotinov” and representatives from the robotics courses at “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”.
The purpose of the competition was for students to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the field of modern information technologies, the management of cyber-physical systems and algorithms.
It took place in four rounds – mini sumo, line following, lego robot competition.
In stage 1 – mini sumo, first place was won by team “GymRob” from PGKPI, second place – team “Spark” from PGEE “Konstantin Fotinov”, and third place went to team “K49”.
In stage 2 – line tracking, the first place was won by team “Victory” from PGEE “Konstantin Fotinov”, second place – team “TractorSoft” from the robotics course, and the third place went to team “Robotics” also from the robotics course.
In stage 3 – lego robot competition, first place was won by team “TractorSoft”, second place by team “Robotics”, third place by team “RoboEl”, all from the robotics course.
