‘Our Body Politic’

Lantigua Williams & Co.

Available on: Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcast

VMÁS RATING: 9/10

Journalist Farai Chideya interviews a Hispanic businesswoman about why she’s a Republican, talks to an epidemiologist about why the COVID-19 vaccine launch got off to such a slow start, asks listeners how their lives have changed during the pandemic , review new films, reflect on comments from politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Marjorie Taylor Green, and more. And that’s just all that happens in one episode. “Our Body Politic” talks about issues that affect minority women in the United States, from the perspective of the members of the groups themselves, in an intelligent and timely manner. The podcast manages to be a mix of both political and cultural themes, and extremely enjoyable.

‘The PHG Podcast’

Eboné

Available on: Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcast

VMÁS RATING: 9/10

“The PHG Podcast” or “The Professional Home Girl” starts each of their podcasts by confidently telling their listeners to leave a review and give it five stars, and things get better and better from there. Eboné, the housewife in question, “aims to show the full range of women living life in the 21st century.” He does it brilliantly and simply, by interviewing an anonymous woman in each episode: a Rikers Island correctional officer or a woman who survived a plane crash that killed 100 passengers. The common themes are sex workers, scientists and survivors of all varieties, she treats them all with equal respect and fascination. Do you think this girl wouldn’t interview her own therapist on her podcast? Think again.

‘Attempt’

Big Money Players Network and iHeartRadio

Available on: Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcast

VMÁS RATING: 9/10

There are many fantastic comedy podcasts and many fantastic beauty podcasts. “Poog” (it’s Gwyneth’s trademark spelled backwards), hosted by comedians Kate Berlant and Jacqueline Novak, and it’s on another level. It will make you cry and laugh alike, without inhibitions and with deep reflections. The wellness industry is booming. These days, and particularly after a pandemic, we are desperate to try anything that can beautify our bodies, calm our minds, or heal our shattered souls. In their new podcast, the pair act as fearless explorers of this trillion dollar industry, testing the latest extreme wellness products and practices, and consulting with healers and experts. Does any of this really work? Or are we all desperately chasing a state of happiness that doesn’t really exist?
