The best pictures of wildlife. The photographer was waiting for the winning shot for 11 months

Russian Sergei Gorshkov won the competition for the best nature photographer in 2020 (Wildlife Photographer of the Year), organized annually by the Natural History Museum in London (The Natural History Museum). The first place was brought to him by an impressive picture of a rare tiger hugging a tree.

“It is truly magnificent,” commented Duchess Kate’s winning film, which presented the awards at a ceremony on Tuesday night. Prince William’s wife is an amateur photographer herself, the DPA agency recalls.

Gorškov’s photograph, The Embrace, depicts a Ussuri tiger gently pressing itself against a tree in a deserted forest. This largest known feline beast is threatened with extinction and occurs only in eastern Siberia. According to the Museum of Natural History, the photographer waited for the whole 11 months to take the picture.
