From the life of a thoroughbred dancer – to the death of Hildegard Krämer
Hildegard Krämer was the head of the ballet at the Nuremberg Theater from 1955 to 1975. She went through turbulent times. In the post-war years there was a “theater marriage” between Nuremberg and Fürth, so the Nuremberg house also played in the neighboring city. The workload under Artistic Director Karl Pschigode was immense: a ballet rehearsal in the morning, an operetta in Fürth in the afternoon and a dance at an opera performance in the evening – such rosters were not uncommon in the 1950s and 1960s. Krämer mastered all of this with great self-discipline, which she also demanded from her colleagues. For example from the Nuremberg operetta legend Kurt Leo Sourisseaux, whom she taught to dance as a young tenor buffo.
