In Jaunolaine sports house, the strongest men’s badminton team in Latvia – “Oliver Latvija” has been determined. The second place was taken by the “TopMedia” team from Baloži badminton club. The third place was won by the second Baloži badminton club team “Fisher”, which won the LLU students in the “small final”. The Latvian Badminton Federation reports that 65 players from 12 teams took part in the men’s team cup named after “Ceresit”.

In the final, “Oliver Latvija” convincingly won the “TopMedia” team. At the beginning of the game, Oliver Latvija players Andis Bērziņš (20:10 against Viesturs Bajārs) and Pauls Gureckis (20: 6 against Uģis Briedis) won their singles, while Reinis Krauklis fought a draw (20:20) against TopMedia team leader Nick Podosinovik . In the first men’s doubles “Oliver Latvija” pair Artūrs Ķelpe and Teodors Kerimovs increased the result difference by another 10 points (20:10 against Viesturs Bajārs and Valters Liepkalns), but in the final doubles “TopMedia” the couple regained 4 points (20:24 against Pauls Gureckis and Reini Kraukli), but that was not enough. “Oliver Latvija” won the final game with the result 100: 70.

The Ceresit Men’s Team Cup was held in the Badminton 100 format, with teams playing up to 100 points. Initially, there are three singles in a row until the winning team scores 20, 40 and 60 points, respectively, and then two doubles follow, the first to the winning team’s 80th point and the second to the winning team’s 100th point.
Several current and former Latvian champions in badminton entered the tournament, including Pauls Gureckis, Teodors Kerimovs, Reinis Krauklis (“Oliver Latvija”), Uģis Briedis, Mārtiņš Kažamaks, Niks Podosinoviks (“TopMedia”), Edijs Līviņš (“Fisher”) , Jānis Kalniņš (Olaine) and Uldis Ābeltiņš (Valmiera Badminton Club).

12 teams participated in the Ceresit men’s team cup, including two teams from Liepāja, Valmiera and Baloži, as well as units from Jelgava, Penkule, Emburg, Olaine, and teams from LLU and Oliver Latvija. The teams were grouped into 4 subgroups, each with three teams. The winners of the subgroups continued to compete for A medals and Ceresit awards. The winners of the 2nd place in the subgroups determined the winners in the B league (Valmiera badminton club), but the winners of the 3rd place in the subgroups determined the winners in the C league (Valmiera children’s sports school).

The “Ceresit” men’s badminton team cup, which was originally scheduled for March 21 in Jaunolaine, but could not take place due to emergency restrictions, was postponed to Sunday, June 28.

Jaunolaine Sports House has resumed and regularly hosts badminton singles and doubles evenings (June 30, July 7, 14, 21 and July 28), but on July 4 and 5 in Inčukalns the “Yonex” Latvian Joint Badminton League fifth stage competition is scheduled. .
