Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Finland become a country that has the best quality of education in the world. This country also implements school entry hours later.
School hours came into the spotlight after the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat implemented school hours at 05.30 WITA.
Viktor claims this policy is to produce human resources with discipline and a high work ethic. However, this move drew a lot of criticism because it was unfriendly to students and parents.
According to the results of research in Finland, going to school later in the day can reduce pressure and can make students more ready to receive material, according to research released in the National Library of Medicine.
In addition, these hours are also reported to make students healthy.
Students in Finland usually start school from 09.00-09.45 local time until 14.00-14.45 local time.
They have longer hours in class but also have lots of rest hours.
As a country that has the best quality education, Finland also has other indicators not only about school hours.
There is no standard test
Finland does not have a standardized test. They only apply the National Matriculation Examination which can be taken voluntarily for high school end students.
All students in the Nordic country are assessed on an individual basis and the grading system is determined by their teacher.

The government sets very high standards for teachers in schools.
All teachers must have a master’s degree before teaching. The teaching program is the most rigorous and selective of professional schools in the entire country.
If a teacher is not doing well, it is the school’s responsibility to do something about it.
