Mináč and Šafránková made the film All My Loved Ones in 1999. The film was a tribute to the rescuer of Jewish children, Nicholas Winton. “It’s a big loss,” said Mináč.

“When we were filming All My Loved Ones, there was a key scene where he said goodbye to Josef Abrham at the gate and did not want to let the child go to England. For a change in the role, she concentrated in the make-up room for four hours, she was not allowed to be disturbed. And when she came to the square, she was the mother of the child, and we all had a chill running down our spines, because you can’t even imagine something like that, ”Mináč recalled.

Sense of humor
He also reminded that Šafránková had a great sense of humor and a wide range of actors from comedy to drama. “I’m not surprised that he’s a national figure in the Czech Republic. There is perhaps nothing more Czech than the fairy tale about Cinderella, which she played, ”said Mináč.

“It was also remarkable that she was a great idealist. We made such shorter documentaries about Nicholas Winton, both of them collaborated with (husband) Josef Abrhám. She considered it very important, she wanted it to have the best possible dubbing. The way she lent her her voice was unrepeatable. For years, the films were screened in schools, so the whole republic could get acquainted with the story of Nicholas Winton, ”recalled Mináč, who also made films about The Power of Humanity – Nicholas Winton (2002) and Nicky’s Family (2011). Also thanks to them, the whole world learned about the rescue of 669 mostly Jewish children at the beginning of World War II. Mináč won over 70 awards for his films.

Politicians also express their condolences on social networks to the family and loved ones of the actress Libuše Šafránková, who died at the age of 68. They mainly recall her main role in the film fairy tale Three Nuts for Cinderella, which they associate with Christmas. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) stated that he could not imagine Czech Christmas without her Cinderella. President Miloš Zeman also expressed his condolences, saying that the news of the actress’ departure had deeply affected him.

The boss of TOP 09, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, stated that Šafránková was the most sympathetic and kind Czech actress in her eyes. “I’m so sorry she left, but I’m grateful for what’s left of her,” she wrote. The former head of TOP 09, Jiří Pospíšil, added that Christmas will not be the same as before.
