“Anna Karenina” was declared the best book of the 19th century, and “Lolita” the best book of the 20th century.

Famous American writers, or more precisely 125 of them, recently compiled a list of “the best books in the world”, and the ranking was divided into two parts – the 19th and 20th centuries.

Among the writers who participated in the ranking are names such as Normal Mailer, Anne Pechit, Jonathan Franzen, Claire Meshud and Joyce Carol Oates. However, the lists are dominated by European authors such as Tolstoy, Nabokov, Chekhov and Dostoyevsky.
