Nefungovalo to: A Lesson in Collaboration and Chemistry
Everyone must try it once and find out whether they should do it or not. There is nothing wrong with that. However, it is awkward to be in the room when it doesn’t work. Many times it happened to me that it didn’t work and it didn’t go well. My humor didn’t work, but that’s why we are moderators, to endure it and move on. An unempathetic person will continue to do it, but I think Honza won’t,” said Háma, with whom we met at the grand opening of the new Fuze restaurant in the center of Prague.
“It didn’t work. The chemistry between those two didn’t work, they are both individually quality people, but it didn’t match. That’s how it is. Sometimes you take two good moderators who work well on their own, but you put them together and it turns into a terrible result, they won’t cooperate and won’t listen to each other,” continued Háma.
“Listening is the most important thing in this profession. If preparedness doesn’t work out, you have to go with a free style to get the blood flowing in the room. If it’s not your discipline, it’s problematic. I would let it go. It was an attempt that didn’t work out, I wouldn’t repeat it next time,” added Aleš Háma, who also explained to Expres why he himself would never stand for hosting the Anděl Awards.

Collaboration and chemistry are essential in any partnership, whether it be in hosting an event or working on a project. When individuals do not connect or cooperate effectively, the result can be less than desirable. It is important to recognize when a dynamic is not working and make the necessary adjustments or decisions to move forward positively.
Effective communication, mutual respect, and a shared vision are key components of successful collaboration. When these elements are lacking, it can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and ultimately, failure to achieve the desired outcome.
Reflecting on past experiences and learning from them is crucial in personal and professional growth. It is okay to admit when something didn’t work and to take it as a learning opportunity for future endeavors.
By understanding the importance of collaboration and chemistry, individuals can strive to create harmonious and productive relationships in all aspects of their lives. It is through working together effectively that great achievements can be made.
Remember, it’s not just about the individual talents, but how they come together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
One of the major topics of the recent Anděl Awards ceremony was the less-than-stellar performance of hosts Honza Dědek and Ivana “Fancy” Kulhánková. Both the audience in the venue and those watching on television quickly noticed that there was no chemistry between them, the jokes fell flat, and it’s no wonder that they faced sharp criticism.
We sought the opinion of Dědek’s good friend and industry colleague, popular host Aleš Háma, who co-hosted the Czech Slavík Awards last year with his partner Ondřej Sokol and also hosted an episode of the popular show StarDance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I saw some clips, not the entire broadcast. It’s not a profession for everyone. Honza is my friend, I have immense respect for him. He is a great writer, I would interview him right away. He is always one hundred percent prepared, understands music, and is a knowledgeable person. Everyone has to try it once and find out if it’s for them or not. There
