The Bertans family is involved in the coffee business

The family of Latvian basketball player Dāvja Bertān has bought the shares of coffee roasting and coffee trading AS “Kalve Coffee“, becoming one of the company’s minority shareholders, LETA group was told by the company’s representatives .

It is expected that the Bertans family will put the same amount in the initial public offering (IPO), with investments reaching a total of 250,000 euros, according to the company’s representatives. The highest price was 6 Euro.

“Kalve Coffee” co-founder and board chairman Gatis Zēmanis says that the investment price for which the Bertāns family bought “Kalve Coffee” shares will be the same as the one that will be offered to investors during the IPO.

The company’s share capital currently consists of one million shares with a nominal value of EUR 0.1 per share, according to “Firmas.lv” data.

Management’s projected profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA, for 2025 is 1.2 million euros, the company says.

It has already been reported that “Kalve Coffee” plans to implement an IPO this year, attracting at least a million euros for further expansion of operations.

The funds raised from the IPO are planned to be used to open the first six “Kalve Coffee” cafe shops in Estonia and Lithuania in 2025, and for development outside the Baltic states in 2026. Also, the money raised makes it possible to increase the efficiency and expand the processes of the production center, as well as to buy equipment, representatives of the company previously announced.

Currently, the company has four coffee shops in Riga, as well as one in Germany. The company offers the rental and maintenance of coffee machines, the creation of coffee beans and private product brands, and also ensures the purchase of coffee on the e-commerce platform.

In the first half of this year, “Kalve Coffee” worked with a turnover of 1.492 million euros, which is 40.3% more than in the corresponding period last year, and the company’s profit grew 2.6 times and it was 100,404 euros. On the other hand, last year the company worked with a turnover of 2.489 million euros and made a profit of 53,439 euros.

“Kalve Coffee” was registered in January 2017, and the capital of the company is 100,000 euros. Gatis Zēmanis is the real beneficiary of the company.
