Winter is approaching and bathing in the bathtub is becoming more of an issue again. However, showering is more hygienic, gentler on the skin and far more environmentally friendly than bathing. Bathing or long, hot showers dries out the skin and can damage the skin’s important microbial flora. A short, warm/cold shower, on the other hand, revitalizes, promotes blood circulation and is easy on the wallet.
You can even optimize when showering: the three most important saving factors are the use of an economical shower head, short shower durations and a temperature that is not too hot.
The comparison between bathing and showering is worth it: a conventional bathtub holds 150 to 200 liters. A typical shower head has a water flow of around 12 to 15 liters per minute. An energy-saving shower head, on the other hand, uses around 7 to 9 liters per minute – with the same level of comfort. This means that the economy shower head can reduce the amount of water by up to 50% compared to conventional shower heads. This also halves the energy requirement and ultimately the energy costs. Compared to bathing, you save up to 65% energy and costs.
