Generally, TB is characterized by respiratory problems because bacteria attack the lungs.
However, not a few TB sufferers also complain of pain in other organs.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Health Service of Kutim Regency, Muhammad Yusuf, said that TB has similarities with Covid-19 in terms of transmission.
TB is transmitted through the air when sufferers release droplets from the nose and mouth and then breathe them into other people.
Therefore, the benefits of the health protocol discipline that were intensively echoed during the Covid-19 pandemic had a positive impact on TB transmission in East Kutai.
“There are benefits to Covid-19, so people are disciplined in using masks so that it affects TB transmission,” he said, Wednesday (24/3/2021).
However, the pandemic has also had an impact on the number of TB patients undergoing treatment.
