Malang Posco Media – Research results conclude that consuming two servings of strawberries daily can have positive benefits for heart and brain health, as well as increasing antioxidant capacity in healthy older adults.
A study conducted by a research team from San Diego State University at the end of last July, involving 35 healthy men and women aged between 66 to 78 years. They were evaluated for more than eight weeks, as reported by Medical Daily.
Study participants were given 26 grams of freeze-dried strawberry powder, the equivalent of two servings of fresh strawberries. As a result, the research team found that consumption of strawberries was associated with an increase in cognitive processing speed by 5.2 percent, a decrease in systolic blood pressure by 3.6 percent, and an increase in total antioxidant capacity by 10.2 percent.
