Solid shampoos are referred to as an alternative to regular liquid shampoos. They should be more naturally processed, with less aggressive components for the skin and without the use of plastics. Although most of these shampoos are made from natural ingredients like herb Cyclea peltata or other essential oils, may also contain chemicals, e.g. parabens (preservatives), sulfates and silicones (foaming agents).
It is therefore necessary to look at its composition even when choosing a solid shampoo. However, as research shows, there are fewer natural solid shampoos on the market than truly natural ones.
In most cases, such stiff shampoos do not use foaming agents or synthetic fragrances in their production, which are frequent culprits of various irritation scalp, dandruff and allergies.

But it is also true that these natural products generate less foam and washing your hair can therefore be more difficult.
However, if they contain natural ingredients such as coconut oil, herbs or argan oil, the hair remains soft and shiny even after washing and therefore there is no need to apply a conditioner to the hair afterwards. Of course, it always depends on the ingredients of the product and the type of hair.
Friendly to the environment
People often reach for solid shampoos mainly because of their environmental friendliness, especially because they do not require the use of plastic and their production does not require so much water (few people realize that liquid shampoos are composed of 80% water).
In most cases, these shampoos are packaged in biodegradable packaging, which also includes kraft paper.
According to users, solid shampoos also have a longer lifespan, so they save money. One 100g solid shampoo bar lasts as long as three equally heavy liquid shampoos.
Another advantage of solid shampoos is that they are easier to transport. In addition to being more compact, there is no risk of them leaking etc.

Disadvantages of solid shampoos
You have to get used to the change. Solid shampoos do not tend to create artificial softness and shine to the hair immediately after washing, as liquid ones do. As a result, the hair can be unpleasantly sticky. It creates tangles. The process of washing with harsh shampoos causes hair breakage, especially for people with wavy and curly hair. They produce less foam. Many people are used to washing their heads with a large amount of foam, which makes the process easier. The natural ingredients in the solids create less suds, which is healthy but sometimes less effective when washing. Hair can look greasy. When switching to solid shampoos, hair can look greasier and coarser. Eventually, however, everything will return to its usual state. They can cause a change in color. Colored hair always needs special care. The choice of solid shampoo should not be underestimated. It spoils and dissolves easily. Since they do not contain preservatives, they spoil more quickly and melt in contact with water. The product should be stored in a dry place to avoid deterioration.
