The seven-party coalition has been working on the deal for weeks, with the Greens pushing for a 2003 law to abandon nuclear power, while French-speaking liberals have supported the retention of the two newest reactors.
There are two NPPs in Belgium with a total of seven reactors operated by the French company Engie.
After long negotiations, the ministers reached a compromise, deciding to close the last NPP in 2025, broadcasters report.
However, Belgium will invest € 100 million in the development of nuclear technologies, with an emphasis on smaller modular reactors.
However, Belgium has yet to decide how to compensate for the electricity shortage, and natural gas-fired power plants are one option. A decision on this could be taken in the spring.
