The Belarusian, who was recruited by the KGB of Belarus for espionage in Ukraine and creating information reasons for accusing Ukraine of supplying weapons to Belarus, tried to recruit an officer of the Lutsk border detachment in January 2020.

The “Belarusian spy”, the disclosure of which the SBU announced on March 24, himself surrendered to the Ukrainian special services. Reported on March 29 Radio Svaboda.

According to the case file, the Belarusian citizen worked as a deputy director of MK Grand Plus, a company registered in the city of Dnipro. In July 2019, he agreed to cooperate with an employee of the State Security Committee of Belarus in the Brest region. According to the detainee, he undertook to create an “intelligence network” to collect and transmit information constituting a state secret in Ukraine.

In January 2020, a citizen of Belarus tried to recruit an officer of the Lutsk border detachment, who has information of interest to the Belarusian KGB.

First of all, the Belarusian “recruiter” was interested in information about the employees of law enforcement agencies and the State Border Service of Ukraine, as well as about the organization of these services, the use of special equipment to detain border violators and the combat capabilities of the units. The officer of the Lutsk frontier detachment was supposed to convey this information to the representative of the KGB of Belarus in the Brest region during personal meetings on the territory of Belarus at predetermined places.

According to the materials of the criminal case, the citizen of Belarus voluntarily stopped “illegal activities” and reported his recruitment to the Security Service of Ukraine before he was suspected of a crime. He handed over all the materials to the SBU officers.

Considering all these circumstances, the court released the citizen of Belarus from criminal liability and returned his mobile phones.

On March 24, counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine reported on exposing a citizen of Belarus in espionage against Ukraine… In addition, the man was supposed to organize provocations and create informational reasons for accusing Ukraine of supplying weapons to destabilize the internal political situation in Belarus.
