The Belarusian national team dropped to 105th place in the International Football Federation (FIFA) ranking updated on September 21, reports BELTA.
In July, Belarusians were in 98th position. Over the past two months, Belarusian football players, under the leadership of the new coach, Spaniard Carlos Alos Ferrer, played two away qualifying matches for Euro 2024. In the first of them, the Belarusians lost to the Andorran team (0:0), and then lost to the Israelis (0:1). Now the Belarusian team has 1198.22 points.
It should be noted that Belarusians dropped out of the top 100 for the first time since 2015, when they took 101st place.
The Belarusians’ rivals in the qualifying group I of the European Championship occupy the following positions: 13th – Switzerland, 48th – Romania, 76th – Israel, 109th – Kosovo, 154th – Andorra. In the next match, the Belarusian national team will play against the Romanians in Budapest on October 12, and will meet with the Swiss on October 15 in St. Gallen.
The September FIFA ranking is headed by the Argentina national team, France is in second place, and Brazil is in third place. The top ten also includes teams from England, Belgium, Croatia, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
The next ranking of the world’s football teams will be published on October 26.
