The big question that awaits an answer today is whether the winner of the elections – “There is such a people”, will convene consultations with the other “protest parties” – the coalitions “Democratic Bulgaria” and “Stand up. BG! We are coming!” (the new name in the parliament of “Stand up! Get out!”).
After the negative reactions of announced hours after the election draft government, party leader Slavi Trifonov, announced he would propose a revised composition of ministers, headed by a new prime minister. After the initial request that they would again give a ready list of candidates and can only negotiate policies, yesterday “There is such a people” hinted that names are not ruled out.
It is the possibility of negotiations that will outline the work horizon of this parliament as well. If the main players do not agree to work together on at least a few main topics, the chances of forming a government are greatly reduced and it is possible that the third parliamentary elections of the year will take place. If that happens, they are likely to take place in late October or November, when the presidential vote takes place.
A test of readiness for joint action will be
the election of a Speaker of the National Assembly
Three months ago, all formations voted for Iva Miteva from “There is such a people” (until then an expert on the legislative activity in the parliament), except for GERB. Now Miteva will be raised again and it will be indicative of what support she can gather. The BSP has already announced that it will have its own candidate – Christian Vigenin, for whom they will vote.
