The SV Bedum football team reacted with shock to the severe abuse of a 39-year-old woman from that location and the events that followed. The 41-year-old suspect arrived in Kampen during an escape attempt on the N50 killed, as well as two people not involved in the accident. “We are deeply moved and impressed by the events”, replies President Jan-Jurjen Timmer.

RTV North reports that the attack took place in the parking lot of the Groningen football club. Two of the woman’s children are said to be active in the club. According to the regional broadcaster, the woman waited in the car last night until her son had finished training.

Her former partner would visit her there and severely mistreat her. Various sources tell RTV Noord that the man he had a hammer in his hand.

Fatal accident on the N50

After the attack, the man fled and the police started the searches. He was spotted on the A6 around 8:30 pm where he took off at high speed. Then the hunt began.

‘Always people in the parking lot’

The events “definitely have an impact on the teams where youth players are active,” says SV Bedum president Timmer. According to him, he is usually busy in the club parking lot. “It was a weekday evening, so our fields and the sports hall are in full use. So it was last night too. So there are people who understood that.”

SV Bedum coaches and teams will discuss the incident. “We are working to ensure that this is all running smoothly,” says Timmer. “We have also linked a pedagogue to our association that we can field for this. Also, people who have seen it happen can report to the support of the victims. We will also draw attention to this.”

It is not yet clear whether training will continue for the teams in which the youth members are active. “We will talk to the teams to see if it makes sense.”
