A resident of the English city of Coringham, Essex, fell victim to a deadly infection during a party and as a result lost her legs, reports “Sun”.
In January, 25-year-old Lauren Briggs went to a party with her friends and entered the jacuzzi. “The night I went to bed, I felt a little sick. Early in the morning, a friend found me fighting for air on the floor, “she said.
Lauren’s friend immediately called an ambulance and the girl was taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with a meningococcal infection.
For two days, Briggs was connected to a life support device. Due to complications, doctors had to urgently amputate her shin and the sole of her right foot, as well as the toes of her left.
When the girl regained consciousness, doctors explained that she could have contracted the infection through a small sore in her leg while she was in the jacuzzi.

The British woman spent four months in hospital. On April 30, after treatment and several skin transplants, she was discharged.
On May 3, the girl created a page on the GoFundMe website asking people on the Internet to help her return to normal life. To date, more than 3.5 thousand pounds have been collected.
Briggs is currently confined to a wheelchair and cannot work until fully recovered. Prior to her illness, she held the position of administrator in the surgery department.
The amputation also affected her psychological health. “My life turned upside down,” she says. “I just want to live as normally as possible.”
