The Beatles’ ‘Now and Then’ Tops Charts – Emotional Moment for Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney described it as “a very emotional moment”.

In the creation of “Now And Then” with the help of artificial intelligence technology, John Lennon’s voice was isolated from a recording made in 1978 – two years before the musician’s death.

Lennon’s voice was accompanied by music from other early recordings, including those featuring the late guitarist George Harrison, as well as recent music by the two remaining Beatles, McCartney and Ringo Starr.

Britain’s Official Charts Company (OCC), which collects information on the best-selling and most streamed songs and albums, announced on Friday that “Now and Then” has topped the chart since its release last week, becoming the group’s first song to top the charts since the song “The Ballad of John and Yoko” in 1969.

The 54-year gap between number one songs is a record. The time span between the group’s first and last number one song is also a record.

The Beatles’ first hit to reach the top of the chart was “From Me to You” in 1963 more than 60 years ago, and since then there have been a total of 18 such songs.
