This and several other songs were recorded as a demo by John Lennon in his home in New York in 1978, and the recording also includes piano. His widow, Yoko Ono, later gave the cassette with the recordings to the band member Paul McCartney, but it was impossible to release this song because the recording was of too poor quality (two of the songs on this cassette – Free as a Bird and Real Love released by producer Jeff Lynne in 1995 and 1996).
More than 40 years after the original recording, with the help of artificial intelligence, it has been possible to improve the sound quality of the demo version and supplement the work with The Beatles with the participation of members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. It is interesting that Now and Then also includes George Harrison’s guitar parts recorded in 1995.
