New York’s Rockefeller Center inaugurates a new attraction: The Beam. From the top of the 69-story Comcast Building, visitors can take a memorable selfie. The spot: that of one of the most iconic photos of the 20th century.
“Lunch at the top of a skyscraper”, this title probably means something to you, and rightly so. The iconic photo of 11 workers, sitting on a beam of a skyscraper under construction, went around the world. The workers are taking their lunch break more than 250 meters above the ground! It was published in the New York Herald Tribune in 1932. Today, the Comcast Building hosts an attraction to celebrate this iconic moment in life.

The Beam, the photo of the workers revisited
On the 69th floor, visitors to the Top of the Rock, the observatory at the top of the building, can enjoy “The Beam”. Please note, the activity is not recommended for those most sensitive to vertigo. At the very top of the tower is a steel beam, similar to that in the iconic photo from the 1930s.

For $25 (around €23), in addition to the price of entry into the building, you can recreate the photo. Obviously the beam does not go above the void but still rises to 3.6 meters above the terrace. Once at this height, you are turned 180° to have a breathtaking panorama of the New York skyline and Central Park.
Christmas festivities have also started at the Rockefeller Center shopping center. The Christmas tree was lit up on November 29. From its height of 24 meters, it overlooks the even more emblematic ice rink.
